5086 alumium is a 5000-series aluminum alloy: the main alloy alloying addition is magnesium and it is formulated for primary forming into wrought products. 5086 is the Aluminum Association (AA) designation for this material. In European standards, it will be given as EN AW-5086. AlMg4 is the EN chemical designation. A95086 is the UNS number. Additionally, the AFNOR (French) designation is A-G4MC.

Fabrictaion and Heat Treatment

  • Annealing

    Aluminum 5086 alloy can be annealed at 343 ℃ and cooled in air.

  • Cold Working

    Aluminum 5086 alloy has excellent cold working charateristics in the O temper and less good H38 and H36 temper.

  • Welding

    Conventional methods are suitable for welding Aluminum 5086 alloy. Excellent results can be obtained when electric arc welding is used for this alloy.

  • Forging

    Aluminum 5086 alloy can be forged.
